"Hello, ma'am. We're here about the missing monkey."
"I'm sorry. I don't know what you're talking about. What missing monkey?"
"Here, this is a sign we found over by the park and it has your address on it. Now, where's the monkey?"
"I'm sorry. I still don't know what you're talking about. Now, please leave my porch or I'll call the police!"
The men looked at each other and left. They stood on the sidewalk for quite a while, talking and looking sideways at Chuck's mother, who was still standing on the porch. Then she quickly turned into the house and went to the phone to call the police.
"Hello, Officer Ward? This is Mrs. Maih. You know, Chuck's mother? I'm a little nervous. There were two men here just a minute ago and they said they were looking for a missing monkey. They really scared me. I've never seen them before and they looked a little shifty. They had a piece of paper that they said they found over by the park. A poster-like piece of paper that they said had our address on it. Could you just drive around here and make sure they're gone?"
"Of course. I'll be right there. We are looking for a missing monkey and I'l like to know what those two men want with it."

Chuck & Charlie - Part 10
"Oh, look Chuck. The little monkey is still sleeping in the bed we made for him. Isn't he too cute?"
"Yeah, he sure is. I hope we can find his owner. Now, let's get these posters put up. You can start over on Doyle Street and I'll start here, near the park where we found him."
"Okay, Chuck. See you back here at lunchtime."
--------------
"Hey Gus, look at that sign over there. It looks like someone is advertising that they have found a monkey. How lucky can we get!"
"Look, here's an address. Let's go over there and claim our long-long pet. Ha-ha-ha!"

Chuck & Charlie - Part 9
"Well, Officer Ward, have you had any word about Gordon's pet monkey, Lucky?"
"Sorry, Barry. We canvassed the neighbourhood and nobody has seen the monkey. Although, there were a couple of strange men around here earlier and I will be looking into that, just in case they are the ones who injured Mr. Barton."
"I can't imagine Gordon having anything too valuable here. He just retired from his job,and has been looking forward to taking it easy and then travelling later in the year. I have no idea what those burglars were looking for."
"Don't worry, Barry. We'll keep an eye on the house, just in case the creeps come back. And we'll keep searching for Lucky too. I'm sure he didn't go far. There are a lot of places he could be hiding right around here."
----------------------
"Now we're in trouble! See those cops? They're everywhere. How are we ever going to find that ball with the police breathing down our necks?"
"Don't panic and stop snivelling. We have to hang around here until I can figure out why the police are knocking on all th doors. They might be looking for us, so we have to be pretty carefulnow. We'll wait a couple of days and when everything cools down, we'll just try again."

Chuck & Charlie - Part 8
"Come on Charlie, let's get going. Mom will be really amd if I don't get home in time for dinner."
"Look Chuck, the little monkey's ball has a funny shape to it. Do you suppose it's some kind of puzzle?"
Charlie tried to open the ball, but nothing happened. She kept turning it arond in her hands and the monkey got all excited and put his hands up like he wanted Charlie to throw the ball to him. Charlie threw the ball to the monkey, who caught it and threw it back. What a good game!
"I guess we better get the monkey settled for the tonight and tomorrow we can make we-found-a-monkey signs and put them up all over town."
"Maybe somebody will know where the monkey lives and we can take him back to his owner. I really wish I could keep him, but I guess not. Mom hasn't decided if I can have a pet, or not."
"Don't be sad, Chuck. We don't have to go back to school for a few more weeks, so we can play with the monkey later and tomorrow too. He can do just about anything - look how he can throw that ball!"
"First, we better get the monkey into the fort behind my house. We need to get him something to eat and make a bed for him. I hope he doesn't try to run away, he's really cute."

Chuck & Charlie - Part 7
"Gee Chuck, do you think we should take the monkey right to the animal shelter, or what?"
"Why don't we take him to the fort behind my house and set him up with a bed and some food and then think about what we are going to do with him?"
"Okay, but we have to hurry - we have to be home for dinner. Do you have any bananas?"
"No, but we can get some a the store on the way home."
--------
"Well,Officer Ward, I came into the house at about 4:30 pm, ready to start the evening with Gordon and found him on the floor, bleeding. I didn't hear or see anyone else."
"It looks like Mr. Barton has been out for quite awhile. How does he take care of himself all day?"
"Gordon takes care of himself quite well, with some help. He has a trained monkey, named Lucky, who helps him with simple tasks like turning on lights, turning on the radio or TV and picking up things that Gordon drops. Lucky is very smart, he can feed someone with a spoon, open a can or take off the top of a bottle, and peel a banana. He's a very good companion for Gordon."
"I wonder where Lucky is now? Have you searched for him?"
"No, I didn't even think about it. I was so worried about Gordon's condition, it was all I could do to remember to call 9-1-1."
"We'll inform the animal shelter in town, perhaps they have had word of a monkey being found."
